Well folks...I did it. I pulled the trigger today on a TC Electronics G-System Limited (the red one). I can barely believe that I'm giving up (most) of my individual effects...especially after picking them out so carefully. I plan on using the 4 cable method with my MK V, with the G-System brain rack mounted along with the Mini Amp Gizmo by RJM Music Technology for the amp switching duties. I am going with the specialized cable that plugs into the footswitch jack of the amp instead of using the external switching jacks, so I can get all footswitch functions. I'm looking forward to this, and hope it works out as well as I think it will...

I'll keep y'all posted.

I'm running a Mark V with a G-System also, but I am using the G-S switching to change channels only, this is all I need. I also have a Nova Drive in a loop, it actually adds even more versatility to the V.

SteveO...

I'm considering the Nova Drive, but that'll be in a couple of weeks or a month or so...I've just dropped so much on this rig, and haven't even bought the balanced cables, the rack, or another volume pedal yet! I am very interested in that Nova Drive though...

Since you are running the same rig I will be, I have a few questions. What do you think of the wah effects on the G-System? I am currently using a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe Wah, and am wondering if the G-System's wahs are good enough to allow me to eliminate it. Also, do you rack it, or have you kept it all in one? If you rack it, have you experienced any ground loop buzz problems that I sometimes hear about?

Anyway...thanks in advance...and oh, by the way...I've got some pretty nice stompboxes for sale in the classifieds section here!

The wah in the G-S is okay, but having a good expression pedal that tracks well with the unit is important. I'd keep the Fulltone, personally. I'm not running any balanced cables and have mine both in a rack and on the floor with no noise issues, though I have never run more than 10' cables with it. As far as ground loops, haven't had any issues there, either.

The Nova Drive really shines in this configuration. I had mine for quite a while before buying the G-S, and it received very little love until I added it to the G-S. With channel one on fat and all the controls at noon, I can get all kinds of great tones that the Mark V can't easily get on its own.

I have a pair of EB Volume Jrs, the volume I use all the time. The expression pedal, not so much. I actually use it for reverb mix more than wah...

Ok! Did the first gig with the G-System, and I'm blown away at how easy it is, and how great it sounds....at least for the first set...then my Mk V recto tube shorted out! But I digress. The G-System along with the RJM Mini Amp Gizmo is absolutely fantastic. I plan on adding a Nova Drive very shortly. I put the G-System in cases, brain racked by the amp, 4-cable method. In the flight case for the pedalboard, I even used an Atlas Stand's quick release mount to mount my mic stand in the case to save on real estate on stage. I'll post pics when I'm not feeling so lazy.
