Rectoverb 50 combo reverb tank (old news I know)

I recently acquired a Rectoverb 50 combo with dead reverb. Upon inspection the wires for the reverb tank were broken, so I reattached them and now the reverb when turned on sounds like an old fuzz pedal. I'm assuming I should just get a new tank? Thanks in advance!
