One last thing. I had my brother over for a listen and he is a hardcore metal head.(I am not) The first thing he did was grab a double coil guitar, crank the gain, bass, Highs and reverb...(Dropping the mid) producing total blurry mess of sound. (Many guitarists like this-as well as him)

another good point is (if youre lucky enough) have someone that knows these amps set it up for you. i tried out an express 5:50 at a store and the salesman actually owned one so he gave me his settings and WOW it sounded good. i tried another one (or three) at GC and i could never get those great sounds i heard before.

its tough to find someone like that everywhere but it REALLY helped me out

Also this comes down to the fact that the threadstarter should REALLY get out and try some amps. That's the only way to tell for yourself.
