Hey guys

I was just wondering is using an overdrive pedal the only solution for tightening up a Recto, because I finally realize now that when the Recto is running on it's own with no effects added to the signal, the amp actually does have good amount of gain to it, but for palm muting the amp tends to sound very loose sounding, so is this just the nature of how the beast sounds, or maybe could it be that I am not turning the amp up loud enough?

So you had an effects pedal sucking your gain all along?

The bass knob is the anti-flub knob -turn left to activate!

I seem to recall someone saying that to you in a previous post . . .

Here's the thing I've learned about Rectos. You have to make them sound how you want with how you pick. Dial it in so that you like the tone, then learn how your pick attack emphasizes certain characteristics of the sound, and change your pick attack to compensate for what you think is lacking. Of course, your picking technique isn't going to help boost the high end, or help it cut better, but if you want tighter, learn how to pick tighter. How you pick plays an important role in how a Recto sounds, unlike other amps where you can be sloppy as **** and it still sounds tight.

The amp is really as versatile as you can make it be, but don't look to the amp to make you sound better. It's not going to happen. If you have bad technique, then the amp is just going to make that sound worse.

BTW...where are you located? If you're anywhere near Lima or Dayton Ohio, I'd be happy to come help you out.

I always wondered why some guys thought they sounded crappy with palm mutes. Guess I never thought of it that way!
Mine sounds like thunder! Must be doing something right!

And...that is the best picture of Garfield I have ever seen! He sure has gotten into shape lately!!!!!!! :D
