Hi to everyone! i'm new on the forum, first of all sorry for my bad english, i'm from Barcelona. I will do the best i can.

Recently my amp (a Randall RH100) has died, and i'm very interested in a Mesa Boogie amplifier

The two options are
A used triaxis v2.0
Or a new Recto Rec Preamp

With a power-amp that can be a VHT 2:50:2
And a G-major and a Ibanez TS-9
My guitar is an ESP M-III with seymour duncan JB and a 59 i think
And soon i will purchase an PRS Custom 24

I'm into 4 band's; A death/prog metal band, a heavy metal band, a cover band (80's songs) and a experimental hard-rock band.

All the information that you can give me can help me in my decision, the only thing that i don't like about the Triaxis is all programing stuff, the presets and that is not a easy to use gear, but with only 2 channels on the recto pre...

I'd like so much the dream theater, opeth sound.

Triaxises are far more versatile. If I'm not wrong some models even have rectifier presets, so if you need a recto sound, you should look for one like that.
 
The Rec Pre has terrific tones, more organic than the triaxis but only two channels. It's like a Rectifier with better cleans, if you have a boost and an EQ pedal you can get:

two nice clean sounds
two okay crunch sounds
one nice lead sound or and one decent heavy rhythm sound
OR
one pretty weak lead sound and one killer recto rhythm sound

It's actually pretty good, I mean, if you spend your time actually playing instead of sitting around thinking, how many different tones do you really need...
 
Thanks guys, i'm for a Rec Pre, the Triaxis is so difficult to me, and i have already my little home studio and the Rec pre could be a nice new adquisition for recording guitars too.

Then the signal chain has to be:

Guitar -> Tubescreamer -> EQ Pedal? -> Mesa Rec Pre -> Tc Electronic GMajor (via fx loop) -> Here could be a BBE Sonic maximizer -> Power Amp -> Speakers



CoG what's the reason for an EQ pedal? The BBE can fix that?

In the power amp a lot of people talk me so well about the VHT, everyone has experiences with it? Or better to go for a Mesa 2:90?

Nope, signal chain is

Guitar->TS->Rec Pre->EQ in loop->GMajor->Power Amp->Speakers
->Dry->Power Amp->Speakers

BBE->Trash :lol:

Do yourself a favour, get yourself a stereo power amp and run the Gmajor on one side only. The Rec Pre's FX loop is parallel and doesn't get very "wet," but it sounds GREAT if you run a wet/dry setup with two cabs or even a stereo cab.

All Rectos really benefit from an EQ pedal in the loop. What you do is turn down the bass a little bit in the preamp and then boost in the EQ instead, it's more bass, less mud.
 
Sorry i'm a little confused, you're talking about of put (for example) in a 4x12" cab stereo, 2 speakers with the dry guitar (mesa preampled) and for the another 2 a 100% wet signal of the guitar (procesed by de Tc GMajor)

What's the input of the tc electronic ? the preamp out?
can you give me a more detailed signal chain?

and if i wanna do this with a single stereo cab (4x12") i can't get a very powerfull power amp....

Okay, I haven't got a way to draw it for you right now so...

Guitar goes to tubescreamer to input of Rec Pre.

EQ goes in loop of Rec Pre.

Rec Pre has stereo Live Outs.

Send Live Out L direct to one channel of your power amp.

Send Live Out R to your Gmajor Input.

Run the Output of your Gmajor to the other channel of your power amp.

Then, yes, if you have a stereo 4x12 each side of the power amp runs one side of the 4x12.

If your 4x12 has, for example, V30s in it, they can handle 60 watts each. If your power amp has 50 watts per side this should be no problem to run it in stereo.

If you try to do this with a 2:100 that might be too much!
 
And do you mix the amoung of FX with the volumes of each channel of the power amp? I liked the idea
The sensation of this method is better than everything mixed and played by the 4 speakers at the same time?

The "problem" of the parallel FX Loop afects to any type of FX unit or pedal, etc..?
