Lots of questions about Rectos at bedroom volume, so I let the camera roll while I was dicking around in the basement last night. This is my 2 Channel Revision G "Blackface." How low was the volume? Low enough that it was around 10:00 PM with a 1 year old sleeping upstairs that wasn't bothered. Volume on the dial was around 8:30, to give you an idea. I didn't have my usual cab (Mesa V30) because it was still away post-gig, so I was plugged into my '76 "Blackback" G12M cab. Sounds thicker with the V30's, but at this low of volume, it got the job done.

I can dial in Recto tones I enjoy at just about any volume, even on next to nothing. Is is as good as cranked? No, it obviously has much bigger balls cranked...but I can jam in the basement with cool tones too.

My Tremoverb has never sounded better than when I ran it through an original '68 basketweave Marshall 4x12" with original Greenbacks that I was testing for someone - sadly, I can't really justify the cost or size of owning one any more because it really sounded utterly fantastic.

Yeah, I had worried that my new Roadster might not be suitable for bedroom practicing but it does fine. It certainly would not be my first choice for a bedroom recording amp. But it's good enough for practicing songs at reasonable levels. Of course, cranking it and feeling the wind is more fun.

Yeah, exactly. While I wouldn't buy one to jam in the bedroom, there's no reason you can't get enjoyable tones at low volume too.

Greenbacks are by far the ultimate low volume speaker. I didn't buy a Marshall greenback cab (1960ax or ac) and I've regretted it ever since. The lower efficiency speakers also help the amp work harder. I wonder how much having a boost helps low volume tone because your vid hauls!

I run my TOV through Marshall 1922 2x12 with Greenbacks for some gigs. IIRC used it was fairly cheap (around $200) so maybe an alternative to a 4x12.

Really punchy and good at low volume but not bad louder either.
