Hey just wondering if anyone here has ever used a Digitech Bad Monkey overdrive witha rectifier as a boost. Im thinking of getting a boost for it and i know the Bad monkey gets great reviews and its far cheaper than a Ts-9. I have heard them with other amps and they sound awesome so was wondering if anyone here used them! Thanks again for any help!

Cheers,

Absolutely. The BM is a great OD. Very tubescreamer ish. Might even be a TS FAIK. I used one for a while with a recto. It tightens and boosts all the smae ways an 808 does. Very cool especially for the price

Cool! Thanks for the reply! I think ill get one so!! Most ppl seem to find them great!

+1

The Bad Monkey also lets you dial back in some of the bass warmth if you desire. I modded mine to give it lower, less muddy bass, high-end wiring and caps, and also to give it a nice singing boost right square in the middle of the mids. With a couple of mods, it's one of those best kept secrets type of pedals.

I use a Bad Monkey on my Express 5:25, but the gain is off. We are using the volume and tone. A bud that uses Mesa exclusively scolded me for injecting fake gain into a Meas and said just use the Bad Monkey to push the Mesa front end and let the Mesa gain prevail. YMMV.

For the price, I think the pedal is a steal. Where they are used to add gain to a clean channel rig they sound very good IMO.

Just got the pedal there today. Its a great little boost i think! It even sounds pretty good on the clean channel too. Im really liking the fact that you can balance the bass and treble controls individually. REALLY good feature imo!

When I first started posting here, I posted a thread on using the Bad Monkey as an OD with the Clean channel Pushed to get a very good classic rock Marshally sound. I'll try and do a search of my posts to link it tomorrow.
