Here is a comparison of my Dual Rectifier solo head with EL34 tubes. I play identical riffs with and without my Maxon OD808 overdrive pedal to show you what the different in sound is. Mistakes here and there but this is not to show off my playing at all.

The head is the 2005 Dual Rectifier 3 channel head with fresh EL34s, all stock Mesa preamp tubes. Bold power, tube rectifier. Channel 3 with following settings:
presence - 4:00
master - 12:30
gain - only 12:30
bass - 11:00
mid - 11:45
treble - 12:15

To compare how EL34s sound to 6L6, listen to the "rock" riff. Then my other riff, "another riff," was recorded on 6L6 tubes without a boost. The gain was nearly dimed, if I remember right.

Playing setup is a young Canadian man with a SLSMG tuned to drop C, EMG 81/85 active set, into the Maxon OD808, into the amp, into a Mesa Boogie 2x12 rectifier cabinet, mic'd with a Shure SM57 about two inches below the top of the grille four inches from the left side right up against the cloth point down towards the middle-top of the speaker cone. Absolutely no post processing at all.

They might delete the "metal" sample because I play Ghost of Perdition and the Grand Conjuration by Opeth. If its not there, and it is the one that sounds really cool, please reply with your e-mail addy and I'll send it to you.
