I have a Rec Pre and a LSS and have been looking at a Mk IV but I am wondering how the recording output on it sounds. Anyone using it? Any comparisons to the Rec Pre? I am not able to mic my amps in my home studio.

I don't think you can compare the silent recording output to that of the Rectifier Preamp. I'll probably give mine a shot this weekend and post the results. I'm also going to record with an SM57 and A/B the results, as well as possibly mix them (L and R) them to see what that sounds like.

It takes only the preamp signal. You will not get any power amp influence or presence in your output in silent mode. This leaves you with the graphic EQ, but you can get some good sounds out of it.
