Recommended 'Recording Preamp' settings .

Hi There,
Ive recently aquired the Recording Preamp & 2:100 .
Im still yet to find my sound ,although im aware it can take time.
im after a sound [channel 2] that has big tight low end yet will cut through in a band enviroment. Bands that would influence me for this tone are ISIS,Old Man Gloom,Neurosis sounds.
So far ive played around with both inputs of the 2:100 [normal & recto] and am leaning towards the 'normal' inputs & sound.
Anyways , if anyone has some suggestions , they would be greatly appreciated.

Here's my settings, though I'm always f*cking with the gain knob and the volume/tone on my guitar, I rarely touch the EQ on channel 2.

You should probably stick to using the Recto inputs on the 2:100. It bypasses an extra layer of tone shaping you don't really need since you have the Recto Pre. Just control the volume and presence with the knobs on the preamp.

Thanks ! Its good to see a familiar Guitargeek on here.
Can i just ask, are you using the 'modern' output/input as well as connecting the live outs to recto ins ?.
I'll give these settings a go tonight & work from there. Thanks again !

Live outs -> Recto Inputs......the amp is set to modern, but I use the same settings in Vintage as well.

To the OP, I also prefer the 'normal" inputs on the 2:100. I think it actually sounds better and retains the use of the volume and presence knobs on the power amp.

For high gain, I usually run modern mode, gain about 1:00, bass about 10:00, mid 2:00, treble noonish and presence 10:00ish, master and live out 11:00 and use the volume knobs on the power amp to tame everything. Even with EL34s Mesas are fairly cold biased, so you really aren't getting any tone out of turning up the power amp. I also hit the front end with a boost to tighten and add a little grit.
