So I was playing an open-air gig yesterday under a large gazebo-style tent tarp. My band and I had our gear set up under it and we were playing fine for about half an hour at this party. We take a set break to go inside and get food and whatnot, and it starts to rain.

Everyone's equipment was fine... except my boogie rig got rained on because of one side of the tarp sagging and spilling water onto my rig. Now, it wasn't heavy rain or anything but it definitely took me a while (10-15mins) to get it pretty dry. I grabbed a hair dryer and used it to dry off the power/pre tubes and tube sockets. None of the jacks seemed to be wet. Needless to say I didn't go back on stage with it (we had a backup guitar rig, a Peavey XXX with a Boogie 212).

I'm kind of wary of powering it up now... It seems pretty dry, but I'm going to hit it again with a blow-dryer just in case...

Any thoughts?

I agree... moisture is tricky and can be hiding anywhere inside... If I were you I would put a fan on it for a day or so... that will help remove all the water.

Thanks guys. Yeah I'm not going to use it for a couple of days and I'm leaving it by a fan. Hopefully, it'll be okay...otherwise I think I'm pretty screwed...

I don't think it would be any harm to take the chassis out of the headshell for a couple of days. It will help them both dry out.

Well, I flipped the amp on today, and it didn't explode, produce weird noises, or short out. Tested all the channels and stuff, it is A-OK from what I can tell.

Helluva testament to MESA's durability but not something i'd want to experience again...

Just another reason I hate playing outdoors. It's un-natural, and an abomination unto the Lord!

It might be a good idea to take it to a tech, just tell him you wanna make sure everything is clean and dry. Things can be ok, but still be potential problems down the road if anything inside got wet. It shouldn't cost too much.

+1 it would be real sad if it was all was green inside in a few weeks...

My tech has it now. Expecting a week or two turnaround. Gonna give the baby a full checkup.
