consider it a pre-holiday gift...

ed o'brien uses a trem-o-verb for the heavier sounds. no heavy sounds (yet) on this album.

wierd fishes.

thanks bro!

funny how I'm just now getting into Radiohead. I was too much of a punk rocker to listen to them back in the OK Computer days

Hopefully this will be a decent album.

Are you really going to download it for free?
I think these guys deserve a few bucks for this cool initiative. I gave them 5€ for it a few weeks ago.

It's estimated that they've made 6-10 million off of this. They'll get a little more when the CD hits the stores next year. Think about that though - what act make even 6 mil off of one release? Cutting out the middle man has been good to them :).

had it for a few weeks now, paid a few dollars for the download.. i love the album, found it easier to get into than kid a or amnesiac

Whoopty-doo, Big name acts can get away with this. (Radiohead, NIN, and others)

I think it seems like the small and mid-size acts have a codependent relationship with their labels -- the bands bring in album sales the label brings them customers.

Dirt cheap home computer recording methods have dramatically increased the amount of music. Love it or hate it, games like guitar hero are spawning new musicians. Budget guitars are $50 at target. There is just more and more music and musicians out there, which is a great thing. The small and medium sized bands still need some sort of promotion to get to their next respective levels -- labels provide this service and do it very well, they also take most of the profits for themselves. No one else has been able to replicate this high quality service at a low 'cost' to artists. Independent labels may be better at sharing profits, but they still affect the bottom line.

Some services like last.fm and yahoo music have helped me find great music, but I have had to dig for it or listen to genre/artist focused stations. I can't wait to see ways for the little guys to break through and maintain momentum without labels taking advantage of artists.

hey bro, i was doing you guys a favor for a f%&# FREE download for a great band.

move it if you like, but I put that tremoverb part in this so it would "fit" in modern section bullshit.
