I'm having a really hard time dialing out the fizz at anything below ear shattering levels.
I used modern on the left and Vintage on the right.
this is just a short "Enemies of Reality" clip
I tried both heads thru my Avatar cab loaded with Mesa C90's.

I tried it using my JSX as well.

**** I suck at this recording stuff
How do you recto guys get sharp clips at lower volumes? :?:

One thing Petucci does in the studio and live is to put a thick blanket over the cab he is micing. If you put a blanket over your cab then you can turn the amp up more and also control the room ambience/sound reflection. Worth a shot! Mic placement might help get rid of some of the fizz too. I bleeb Petrucci recommends placing the mic halfway between the edge of the dust cap and the edge of the cone on axis...

Add a low pass filter around 10k or so in your recording software. That should get rid of quite a bit of the fizz. BTW your tone sounds pretty good.

Thanks, but I've actually retubed it with 6L6's and really worked on a good mic position and I think I've finally got it where I want it.
I will post up a follow up clip of the whole tune when I get it done.
thanks for taking a listen :D

That tone was Heavy!!! I like it and those avatar cabs sound sweet

I actually bought mine empty and loaded with a pair of brand new Mesa C90's.
run side by side with my 2X12 recto cab my Rectoverb sounds great
thru them.
I would , I had a 2X12 with hellatone 60's in it that I use to run with my 5150 and it sounded great.
