Hey guys, lately I've been seeing/reading more about people using 6L6's with EL34's or KT77/6V6 with GZ34 (5AR4) rectifier tubes.
They say to always run this setup in EL34 bias mode and tube rectifier mode, bold.

I understand there are allowable plate voltage scenarios and shortened tube life, but is this a good idea?

even better....

Does anyone run their DR's this way & do you love it?

Sounds really cool as you get the best of both tone worlds

Thanks guys !

Hey yeah, I know about the RK options but I'm seeing that some people are using certain tubes in "spec" in their DR's, with no mods.

Is this just bs or what?

Very curious as it sounds cool but don't know if the DR can handle the two tube voltage differences !

You thermionic valve gurus, help me out ,mmm..K?

i think if you search arond the eurotubes website, Bob talks about some tubes he mixes....The only review I read said it sounded bad.

Hey Thanks so much for the input. I checked out the whole site and he's getting my biz from now on. Knows his sh!t for sure.

I just want to experiment with my tone as the DR's do run really cold with the fixed bias.

Won't pull the trigger until I think about it more & get some more input though.

Always looking to improve and find MY holy grail !
