That is one thing to remember: a lot of amps are designed to sound best when run at "stage volume", when you get more saturation of the tubes, which gives a more full sound, and also with the speakers running pretty hard. I know that my Stiletto ACE definitely sounds better pushed, though once I switched out the speaker I was able to get the sounds I liked without having to push it as hard, as the Vintage 30 really didn't help warm it up at all.
