Hi. I've had a Dual Rectifier for about a year now, and I've gigged with it plenty of times. I play generally heavy music, so I use a Boss SD-1 to boost/tighten up my sound. I'm going to get a Maxon OD808 soon, because I'm not really satisfied with the SD-1. When I switch to clean, I use a Boss DD-3 for some sparse delay to add texture to my tone. As it stands, both of these pedals run in front of my amp, along with a Boss NS-2 for noise suppression. Basically, when I switch from my heavy tone (CH 2 vintage + SD-1) to clean (CH 1 + delay) I've got to press the CH1 switch, the delay pedal, and also I've got to turn off the SD-1. This is ridiculously tedious.

I'm not really sure how to properly utilize the effects loop, but I do know that the delay will sound better in it as opposed to in front of the amp. Basically, what I want to do is be able to have it so that the OD pedal only comes on with channel 2 (I don't really use channel 3), and is automatically off when I switch to channel 1. It'd also be nice if the delay was automatically triggered with the clean channel. I have no real idea how I can do this, but is there a feasible setup I can utilize that uses the effects loop so I can achieve this?

I know the guys in Killswitch Engage (have used) Rectifiers, and run an NS-2 + OD808 out front, with a delay in the loop. I'm not sure how they seamlessly switch from heavy to clean + delay. As far as I know they don't use any MIDI controllers and stuff.

Help!

Edit: Also, I'm currently away at University and haven't been able to use my Recto since December. I'll be home in a few days, and I'm anxious to get a better setup. I apologize if this question is somewhat ridiculous, but I can't tweak anything right now cause I'm away from the amp.

No question that your delay will sound MUCH better in the loop as that is where time based effects are meant to be. as for the one touch to control effects, and channel and so on you will need a midi switching system, generally costly and finicky to set up, but once its set up, it would be awesome. If you want a good example of a midi setup, check out the petrucci rig tour on mesa's website.

Hope this helps

I use a G-Major in the Loop of my Roadster for all my time-based effects and to control Solo and FX Loop switching, with an Axcess CFX-4 switcher for amp channel selection. This allows me to control FX Loop effects (& loop in/out switching), Amp channels, and Solo Boost with one stomp on my MIDI controller. My front end effects (Wah, EQ, TS-9, ISP Decimator) I still have to do with an additional footstomp, not so big a deal for me.

Def need a switcher. I have a delay and run it in the fx loop. I just tap the fx button to activate my delay when i need it.Hard to do tap tempo though. Thats why all my delays are preset in order according to my set.

Killswitch for the longest time just left the OD on at all times. You can even see it and the NS-2 sitting on top of the amps and just switched channels via the footswitch. They would just roll the volume down on their guitars for the clean stuff and switch to the single coils. These days they use an A/B box to switch between a Splawn Nitro for the dirty stuff and a Mesa Lonestar for the cleans.
