The quad manual states it is based off of a IIC and III but I believe the studio pre is more along the lines of the studio series (although it is still related to the mark series).

The quad has the features that you see on the heads like the all of the pull deep and pull shift pots.

For the money the quad is the better deal since you are getting double what the studio pre is for close to the same price.

Search the boards & you'll find that someone phoned MB about this.
The Quad's Channel 1 is almost identical to the Studio.
The only thing the Studio pre has in common with the Studio 22. combo is the word Studio. Sure, the Studio 22 is based off of the Mark series, but on a much scaled down level.

As far as copmparing either pre to the preamp section of the 2C+, there are very minor differences. MB said to run the send from the Quad into a 50/50 to get the same sound as the 2C+.

It's been a while since I've played through a 2c+, but I can tell you that the Quad sounds amazing.

yeah you're right... just to resume for gts the thread you were referring to: Studio and Quad are based more on the IIC+ rather than the IIC (Bendinelli's words!)

the lead channel of the studio pre is much closer to a IIc+ with minor changes in values of caps and resistors. i did mine and really sounded better.although i have never tried a iic+

the quad has ll the knobs and options of a mark iic+ but you ca do it also with the studio.
