And I have to say it is a very good match. I think it is an improvement over the C90. To my ears it sounds smoother and a lot sweeter on the top end.
The attenuater dial on the back works perfectly. It get's slightly warmer turned all the way down, not much difference tonewise from full up. With the dial turned down I can turn the master volume knob quite a bit farther to match the volume of the stock speaker. With the dial turned full up it is every bit as loud and maybe a little louder than stock.
I can't wait till it gets broken in.

Thanks for posting the info. I've been looking at these as well, wondering if they sound muffled at lower dB's. Sounds like they are the real deal.

After some more playing time today I'm sold on this speaker. I think it's a better match for this amp. Full attenuation is not muffled at all. You can hear a difference in tone, but it is very slight.
I had a Webber MASS attenuater a few years ago and didn't like it at all. This is a completely different ball game. Eminince rates the attenuation as a 9db difference. I don't know if it's that much but it is a noticable drop in volume.

Oh man, this has me REALLY interested. I have been thinking hard about picking up a Dr Z Handbrake for my 5:50. This would be perfect.

Well, just pulled the trigger on one today after seeing it listed for $138!

For that price it's a no brainer. I still think it's a better match for this amp than the stock speaker.
Let us know what you think after you've put a little time on it.

My Eminence Maverick arrived today. It was a very easy install to put the new one in - took about 20 minutes.

I have only played on it for about an hour or so, so it is by no means broken in yet, but I am quite pleased. As jmontgomery pointed out, cranking the attenuation up does warm up the tone a small amount, but it really does a wonderful job of allowing me to drive the amp harder at lower volumes. It sounds FAR better than the Hotplate I tried on the amp a few months ago. The speaker does have a different tone than the stock speaker. The stock speaker was a little darker sounding than the Maverick so attenuation aside, I like the sound better. I definitely have to re-tweak all of the settings on all my pedals and the amp EQ, but won't spend huge time on that until the speaker has some more hours on it.

So far so good, especially for the price J&R had it for!

After playing with this for a couple of days and getting a dozen hours on the speaker I am really liking this thing. I can now push the amp at much more reasonable volume levels and still get very good sound out of it. I'm currently using it dialed up about 1/2 way and I really can't tell much, if any, difference in the tone. Highly recommended!
