Hey dudes,

I thought it would be cool to be able to switch between a parallel and serial loop on my Rectoverb combo. I don't always use effects with it like I do my DC-3 so it would be cool to install a push/pull pot so I can switch between serial and parallel. I currently have the loop modded to serial, but if I could switch between the two that would be uber cool! Is this possible? If so, then how would I do it?

Hey MM,

Check out this post, I suggested just that!

I'd rather not drill any holes so I was wondering how it could be wired up using a push/pull pot in place of the standard FX mix pot.

Yes you can do it quite easily. You will need a DPDT push pull pot that matches the one that is in the amp, which I believe is a 25K Linear taper pot. Basically you use one side of the DPDT switch to break the connection between the dry signal input wire (right wire) and the mix pot and use the other side to short the wet and output wires (left and center wires) together on the mix pot when the knob is pulled. If I have time, I'll try to get a diagram posted, but it's pretty simple to figure out.

A push pull pot has the DPDT switch attached to it, so no holes are needed.

That's a cool idea

Me thinks so too. :)

I did the serial conversion on my old rectoverb combo, and never once had any desire to go back to parallel. Parallel loops are a giganitic pain in the ass and are the antithesis of flexibility.

But there is a slight tone difference with a parallel loop sounding better. I don't always use effects with my RoV so a parallel loop would be ideal if no effects are in the loop. Otherwise, I agree that a serial loop is superior as far as effects are concerned.

When there is nothing plugged into the loop, series and parallel both get bypassed just the same since the mix pot is bypassed by the switching send jack. There's no tonal difference at all with nothing in the loop. On some Boogies you can hard bypass the entire loop circuit, preamp tube and all, with a toggle switch on the back. That could definitely have some effect on the overall tone.
