I just received some new Ruby 6LGC-MSTRs from Doug (fast shipping and great packing). I have a question.

I noticed that the pins of these tubes are tinned and I didn’t understand why until I came across this one tube in the batch. The tip of the pin is a bit loose. I discovered that the leads coming from the internal elements pass though the pins, which are hollow. The tinning bonds the leads within the pins and ensures conductivity with the pins in the sockets- I’m slow today.

So, is this loose tip something I should be concerned with? Should I just re-tin it or leave it be? It should only take a few seconds to re-tin.

Thanks for looking.

I can't see that the pins are hollow all the way through, otherwise no vacuum !!?? If it's loose, complain and get a replacement. Fast shipping, great packing.......BAD product.

The pins are hollow, and the wire lead coming out of the glass is sealed. If the pin is loose in the plastic base,re-soldering it wont help.If thats the case I would return it/them.

Thanks for the advice, guys. Doug said that it's not a big deal and that I should just be able to plug it in and use it. Sadly, I can't do that as my DC10 is in Limbo :(.
