Preamp Tube Suggestions for Mark III

Looking for preamp tube suggestions for my Mark III Combo. I know this has been covered before but, I'm looking for fresh ideas. Also has anyone used a 12at7 instead of a 12ax7 in the phase inventer and R2 for a smoother tone? Thanks for your help.

I have tungsols for the first 3 tubes, EH for the reverb and forgot what the phase turner tube is. All 12AX7, except for the reverb a 12AT7.

Hi Goldtop,

Yes, it's been covered. Check the archives ...I've responded there on this very topic. And yes, I prefer AT7s in certain positions for that very reason: smooths out the gain and tone in the Lead and especially the R2 channels.
