I was thinking about buying a THD hotplate.
But what I was wondering was how the ohms work.
Do you just buy the one that is the same ohm load as your cabinet?
Or do you have to combine the totals of your cab and the attenuator?
I want to try it out with a Mark IV
Has anyone had any luck with this?

Thanks,
Kyle

Have you looked at the attenuators from Ted Weber? The THD is nice but the electronics behind attenuation are essentially the same and some of the Weber MASS units have an EQ built in.

I personally don't like attenuators with Mark series amps. I have a Hot Plate here and it definitely takes more away from the tone than it adds to it IMHO.

I use a hotplate with my mark III, and if I don't go over -8dbs it doesn't really color the tone much.
anything over that and it starts to get "muffled".
It lets me get the master up over 3 without blowing my head off in the house
