nice I will admit I do have VII GAS

Same same 🤣 then I visit a thomann website and notice the 4,4k€ price tag again and go on with my life… a bit steep for an amp - for a full time home-noodler

I would not say the reissue is a bad choice, it is just different. Same for the JP2C. The JP and VII are much easier to dial in. As for the Mark III, IV and now the IIC+ reissue, not quite as simple to find that sound. Perhaps my familiarity of the III, IV and V set me up for ease of use with the VII and JP2C. Even the tone controls are more forgiving. I actually dial in more bass on both VII and JP. With the IIC+, you are almost forced to dial it out. I believe they went a bit beefy on some of the cathode bypass caps. Not trying to diagnose the differences. Too early for that. I will do a NAD post when I am ready to do so.

Will have to watch the Ola Englund video again to see how to set up for chugging. Where did I go wrong? Ah, it is the cab, do I need the 412? Methinks the EV loaded one will do fine. For what you get after you fork out the cash, is a little more but a lot less if that makes any sense. A little more control on the pre lead drive gain with V1B, a different tone stack characteristic and less in features of how the amp is stacked. Sure, the Multi-Marks of the V or VII do offer more variety but I would not call them limited because they do not have the gain control (volume 1) on V1B triode, instead it is predefined for the selected mode when using CH3. Ch2 is a different setup with crunch and VII modes. Each amp has the same number of preamp tubes and power tubes, it is just the level of remapping the signal path with relays and midi control that sets it apart along with the added cab-clone and other features when it comes to the Mark VII. Spend $50 less and you get more. vs a slight change in more tone and less features for the Reissue.

Which ever path you choose to take, each boogie will be different. I guess it would be boring if they were all the same.
