I have a mesa/boogie stiletto ace 50w head and I love it. I currently have a 498t in my les paul. My problem is that the 498t's seem to hot and really hot pickups sound too muddy through my amp. I want something that thick and warm, yet I want it to be organic and articulate sounding. The pickups I'm considering are; classic 57, classic 57 plus, dirty fingers, burstbucker, or I'm open to suggestions.

The music I play is kind of punk-ish like Blink 182. The self-titled album they released before they broke up is my ultimate desired tone along with the ryhtym tones on the angels and airwaves albums. They played so many different guitars on that album though. The way I can describe it best is that it had a warm classic vintage tone, yet kind of punchy like a modern sound. My amp does the job and I know Tom Delonge uses dirty finger pickups but really hot pickups just dont sound good thorugh my stiletto.

Help is much appreciated, thanks!

maybe a SD 59' SH-1B? ive never used one, but a friend of mine has one, (the bridge model) and hes into it, idk just a suggestion.
Copied and pasted:
"The Seymour Duncan SH-1b is a versatile PAF-type humbucker similar to the original "Patent Applied For" humbucker that was invented by Seth Lover at Gibson in the 1950's. Great for country, jazz, blues, funk, classic rock and heavy rock. This pickup provides a late-'50s, vintage-correct, humbucker sound. The sound is warm with crystalline clean tones and provides full and bright distorted tones, with smooth sustain. Classic appointments include plain enamel wire, long legged bottom plate, vintage single conductor cable and no logo. Compared to the SH-55 Seth Lover, the '59 has slightly more scooped mids and is vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance. Designed for balanced and warm instruments. Works especially well with mahogany bodies and rosewood fingerboards. Players include Ben Harper (neck & bridge), Robben Ford (neck &anp; bridge), Mike Einzinger / Incubus (neck), Robert Smith / The Cure."

Thanks for the input!

BUT I'm still looking for more advice, with information backing it up.

curious..have you checked the value of your pots?you would think it would have 500k pots, but it isn't always the case/ forgive me if you already have , but playing with the pickup height may help as well....seems like that pup is an AlNico 5 mag/not too sure about the other specs-will check it out

Yes, it is alnico v but my point is that is sounds too modern. I want something more vintage sounding with a little bit of hotness to it.

Which is why i'm debating between mainly between the 57 classic plus, 57 classic, and dirty fingers.

well, the 57's should warm it up in a more vintage way-never owned the finger, but it is ceramic(i never have jelled with the cleans on other ceramics, and ceramic doesnt come to mind when I hear the word "vintage"..MMV)
check out the sunburst forum/loads of info there for sure

I don't want something completely vintage. I wan't something that is a very good balance between modern and vintage.

Try SD Alnico II Pro's. I just installed a set in my guitar and get great tones from my Deuce.
