let me start by saying that with this first post, the thread could seem to have the trappings of an "Effects" post, but as i seal my fate (with velcro) and the pedal board takes shape i assure it will move quickly into the realms of "Rig&Tone". (anyone else get hungry for italian food when they read this section? ok, i know, bad pun and i'm sure you've all thought of it before..)
Anyway... after nearly a week of painful waiting, my pedalboard and "last" pedal for it have arrived. tonight i'll go over to the studio and start velcroing my hands together, err assembling my pedalboard.
here is my preproduction for the signal chain (shout out to trey parker and matt stone for inspiration on visual design - and russ for calling it)
any wisdom out there on what to put first, the mojo vibe or the mxr flanger? when you put a pedal in the loop to drive it with the preamp, does it matter what order they're in? (excluding putting delay last).
as far as delay, is there any logic to the order between a digital delay and an analog one?
also, i'm GASsing hardcore right now for a xotic bb (pathetic because somehow i don't even know what GAS stands for/means, i've just picked it up like a two-year-old with the F-word). then i might even put the vibe out front and drive it with that sucka.
on a side note, i find it disturbing that as expensive as these boutique pedals are, they can soooo easily sucker me into paying EVEN more by simply making the original pedal ugly and then issuing a "limited" edition in a color scheme i find more attractive.
case in point: the mojo vibe. the original is this awfully bland flat lavender color (no offense bob). then they issue this cool psychedelic looking swirl finish for an extra $20.
another example is my new obsession with the xotic bb. i've never even heard it... it's originally an offensive shade of orange, but then they came out with this slick looking chrome version that costs $20 more.
i guess i feel a little better that i am only doing this for my own benefit. if i'm up on stage, people will see my guitar and amp, not my pedalboard, so this is purely for my own aesthetic anality.
if i did get the bb, the only pedal i can foresee picking up in the future (famous last words) is an ISP noise decimator. unfortunately the bridge pickup of my SZ720FM is quite a squealer. :x
but damn, that thing would look slick next to the chrome BB
