Basically what I'd like to know is if the Peavey JSX has the low end to achieve modern metal rhythm tones (like TOT) and enough clarity and articulation for shred. (think Petrucci to Becker and Rusty Cooley) Thanks

If you did Satriani's tones you'll dig the JSX. It's basically a Triple-X on steriods.
 
I've played all of Peavey's Ultra Tube series amps xxx, Jsx, 5150 I & II's and I must say the one that spanked all of them is the new 6505. I was impressed. However the presence is lacking, as it is on most peavey products. They are close to a Recto's crunch ability just not as hi-fi as I like.
