Hey there! (It's my first post here)

I own a recto pre and a 20/20 and I am thinking about getting a palmer unit cause the 20/20 is still too loud for micing since I live in an apartment and I'm not totally satisfied with the direct sound of the recto pre.

What I want to ask is which are the differences between the pdi 03 and the pga 04 and what would you suggest for prog metal tones?

Thnx in advance!

Phil.

The Palmers are not designed to reduce the volume level at the speakers; however, these units are...

Check out the video http://www.ultimateattenuator.com/video_guides.html

The PDI 03 and the PGA 04 Palmers are designed for using an amp without speakers. I actually called Palmer directly and asked them that exact question and that is what they said.

Good luck.

Maybe I didn't phrase it right but that's what i meant.
I didnt want an attenuator cause again in an apartment situation i could never be able to get the cab going which is a big part of the sound. that's why i was asking about the palmer. To be able to go direct.

Anyway I did a load of searching in this forum after my post about those units and I went and bought a pdi 03 yesterday and i must say I am extremely happy :D

I can push the the 20/20 to get the tubes going and still record at 3am. It rules!

Thnx for the reply though man!

I've been looking at those too for use in a small venue going straight to the board. It's really too bad that they don't make those load units in stereo, can get expensive to purchase two units. I might have to get the PGA-05 ADIG-ST and plug it in after my Triaxis, but then I can't fire up the power amp, :(

No one around me carries the Palmer items in stock, all special order or online ordered stuff!

Just saw someone on ebay trying to sell a used Palmer PDI-03 for $1099.99; New they are only $630, DUH!!!!

I am really happy with the purchase personally.
I live in europe so prices differ cause palmer is a german company. I got mine new for 350euros (around 450$) but on the other hand a dual recto here costs about 2500euros which is around 3500$ (which I think is considerably more than what it costs in the us).

I am also thinking about a second palmer for stereo use but I'm almost out of money from my last crap job so I guess it can wait a while.
