i have a mark 4 version a.could someone help me understand the tonal difference from running the output volume higher,vs. running the channel volume higher?what is the most common practice with this?thanks
Funny ...but true. The "technical" answer is there is a tonal difference It makes some difference to my Boogies, but even greater tonal difference in my Fender PRII. Trust your ears.
Like everybody else stated it pretty much an overall volume adjust knob.
It controls the overall loudness/softness of your amp.
And you can also use it as your personal built-in attenuator on your gain drive.
The volume control is very powerful as a tone control on RHY1 - watch out if you have any analog modulation FX in the loop if you turn it past about 6, my EHX gear tends to break up a bit past that which obviously affects the nice 'loud and clear' chorus/whatever sound you may be going for.
The difference is not so much - at low volume - on RHY2/LD.
