That would be my first suggestion. If you are having trouble balancing channels (e.g. clean is too bassy and drive is too thin) when I would adjust your pickups to balance things out. Once the pickups are set up correctly, the global controls will work much better. If it is too bassy overall, you can always turn down the bass. :D

I'm really happy with mine. I'm realizing that I won't miss my Dual probably as much as I thought I would.
 
The first time I played an ED was when I went to the store to demo a reborn recto and played them back to back. That was a good comparison of "organic" vs "In-organic". Not that a recto doesn't sound awesome. It's just not as naturally musical or warm as an ED. You can really tell the what each amp's talents are.
Technically, I would explain organic (in context of how I use this term) as a non-scooped, warm tone with lots of sensitivity to pick attack.
Think, opposite of a Metal Zone pedal.
