I have my delay in the loop, but would like a reality check on the others. What is the "proper" order of:
- Autowah
- Compressor
- OD
- Phaser

I would put the phaser in the loop unless you are looking to cop some old VH style tone with a reaal slow pahase up front...

Phaser in the loop is much more pronounced (effect is stronger). You might like it and you might not.

does the phase tone distort when it hits the preamp like a delay does when outside the loop? It's currently out of the loop and it doesn't appear to, but sometimes I don't trust my ears. Or is it just a matter of how pronounced the phase effect will sound?

The gain stages and EQ it passes through when in front is what makes it less pronounced.
