Well as being owner of a pre 5 dual rec, i can say there is something special about them, however it may not be your thing as it is more of a true solo head.

Lets face it, they are special as only a limited number of them made, they do have there own groove going on, is it a hype, not really, are they worthy over $2000, well that goes by what the market is willing to pay for them.

Soon as division is done recording there album, mine is going up for sale, hopefully the market is still hot by then.

I have said it once, and I will say it again, I know Grear Monkey is trying to sell his amp, but at the same time he has a point, any of the early recto's that used the old mark III transformers defintly had a different sound and attack then the newer ones. Maybe we should stop with the pre-500 and pre-1000 and just start calling them the pre-G's.

As long as all of you guys keep "labeling" amps, such as "Pre-1000" and "Pre-500" especially...each and every one of you are helping to promote the hype that's driving up the used market of these amps. Eventually these guys will drop their price if they don't have a buyer, but it's the continuous ranting on boards like these of..."ZOMG?! I just tried #450 and it was a billion times betterz than teh #560"...that helps drive up the price. This board was a primary creator of the monster that it complains about.

I've owned an F board and a G board 2 Channellers. The difference? I bet you that no one on this board can tell the difference including me.

I wouldnt say that, I have owned the C, the D, the F and now the G as well as the three channels. And I can tell a difference between them all, is one better, i dont think so, just all different.

I can hear a difference as well. I had Rev F (just traded it for a Roadster *pending) and I still have Rev G. You can hear a significant difference.

C & D are both brighter / trebly than REV F and G. REV F is the darkest Recto made.

F is my favorite (because I like dark amps)
G is much modern. More gain / fizzy. (but I like it alot.)

3 channels, I just cannot get into them. 2 channels are the best IMHO.

The market decides what a given piece is worth.

Personally, I'd never decide on how a given rev of a tube amp circuit sounded based on one example given how much tubes and speakers can vary over the life time of the piece. If I had three of one rev and three of another rev in a room at the same time, I might start to feel more comfortable about deciding how distinct the differences were, but otherwise I'd be skeptical.

I'm talking about a Rev F vs Rev G. To me there's no difference.

Infact, I'll go ahead and say that Tremoverb Channel 2 Vintage, Rev G, Rev F on Vintage modes and Roadster Channel 3 vintage mode sound almost exactly the same.

I'll even add that If you have 1200ish to spend, Tremoverb is the best recto you can have because of the crystal cleans and blues modes. If you have 1600ish to spend, Roadster is the best you can have and if you have no limit and like the recto sound, hell, get a road king II if you think the options are worth it, which to some are definitely worth it.

If you want the smoothest leads ever, don't look at the recto line.

I don't mind getting flamed on internet forums anymore. People who speak their minds always get flamed.

Again, my comments involve Rectos of Rev F, G, Tverb and Roadster. No comments on Previous revisions. I haven't played through them and I'm not planning on playing through them since their prices are BS.

I absolutely love the Tverb channel 2 vintage. Not that that has anything to do with this thread, just wanted to say that.

As you were. . .

I find a lot of entertainment in these type of threads, there's lots of opinions and some good info within, but also the anger that starts to come out.... it just brings joy to my twisted self :D

a good conversation usually turns into a great one only after it becomes heated, especially if youre only viewing it from an outside perspective.

but thats just my opinion.

and i too are of the group that hates these price gouging flippers/collectors that drive prices up for no reason other than there own profit and making it harder for actual musicians to afford good gear. though i am not accusing the seller in this case of being one of these people.
