Maybe the IV is the new IIC+...

There certainly is plenty of respect for the IV out there. I'm not sure there's two grand of respect, but as an owner, I have to agree that it's a great, collectible (but mostly playable!) amp. With other, less capable new amps selling for similar prices, I don't see increasing values as unwarranted. :D :)

I own a IV as well and really love it. I'm just kidding with my post. It's a classic. A real classic. One that anyone can own and has proliferated the industry. It's like a Recto, the Marshall and Fender Twin.

It's a nice amp, but for that price I could buy two used Mark IVs and have some money left over.

You'd have to find 2 ratty Mark IVs to get them for $2000. I've seen mint ones that are only 3 years old or so still get $1400 or so.

I've seen a bunch go for around $800-900 before Christmas.

Key word - "before Christmas". People overspend on other things, so "before Christmas" market is really just a fluke.. They are back up to $12-$1500 depending on condition

I am waiting patiently for a guy near me to let his 'new' one go. He almost let me buy it before Christmas and I would gladly give him 1400.00 for it. I'm starting to feel like a vulture waiting for him! LOL!

ya gonna have to disagree with you as well...I saw a couple for around 1000 flat as well, but they were typically combos, and NOT in good shape, at all....expect to pay 12-1400 for a good condition long head at any given time, good tubes and recent servicing to the amp can raise the price too.

There is no need to pay any more than 1200 for one. No disrespect to any owners but seriously. Great amps. I miss mine. Happy with my Mark III though. I have noticed recently that prices are climbing slightly. 5150s are going for 900!

But I agree with screamingdaisy. I see them for under a grand quite often. And not just combos. I see heads in good shape pop up alot. I see alot of beat up ones also. You just havet be patient

Any Mark IV I've seen sell around $1000 (never seen less) were in beat condition. Anyone can check the completed listings on eBay. If you find a pristine one with warranty left, you'll pay over $1300. These are the first 6 I found.

Most of the time a mint warranty is over 1200 but not always. I see them around

Well I'm not saying you cant find a deal but it's an exception. The amps value has not fallen. The ebay listings show that.

I paid $750 for my short-body combo last year from a local guy off of Craigslist. Its serial number 0016, so I think I got a gem for the price. And it was in really good condition, just needed the tolex to be cleaned up a bit and some scratchy pots cleaned, an hour of my time invested in that. Plus its just one of those cool stories because the guy didnt really know what he had and could have easily gotten way more money out of it.
