7 to 9 weeks to until she gets here.

in the meantime i finally picked up a BB preamp to use with my F30. i DO see what all the fuss is about - it sounds fantastic!

I recall a post where someone dismissed the BB as not a good fit for the ED. really? can anyone speak to this?

just making conversation to ease my tortuous wait.

I owned a BB Plus for a short time- I bought for the ED, but the gain was similar in nature to the ED, and it compressed a bit more than I cared for with the ED. Great, great pedal, but for me, not enough of a distinction to use with the ED. YMMV....

Currently using a BB Preamp, and I agree there is quite a bit of overlap between it and the ED gain channels. So what is the favorite pedal to use with the ED for that "singing, sustained lead?"

Been using a ts808 with good results, sometimes an eq in the loop for a little volume boost as well. Add some delay and it just gets better.

If for nothing more, it'll be fun add a little gain and boost a hot clean channel. Some of the best lead tones i've gotten from the Mark V have been from 10w Tweed/Variac. BB pre a little less than half gain. It's sick, if I could i'd be playing right now.

Cash in your empty beer and pop cans sometime and buy a Bad Monkey...they really
are that cheap to buy !
It works suprisingly well as a transparent boost and the on-board OD ain't too bad
either.
Cheap and green

I don't have clips of mine, but gearmandude does a pretty good run thru with one.
Check it out.....

Worth watching the vid just for the intro/outro by Bodeco.

Trust me, it sounds waaaaaaay better in person than thru computer speakers.
And if you don't like it, your not out a lot of coin.

I picked up my new ED on Wednesday and ran it through a BB Pre, a Fulltone OCD and a Keeley modded TS-808. Hands down, the BB preamp sounded the best; warm, smooth, defined... I can't see playing without it now.

YJ -

they ended up coming through early for me! kind of...
about 2 weeks after my order i got an email saying the head had shipped.
it showed up and i was like a kid on christmas (getting a new amp is not common for me.... this was a big day!)

...then i opened it and saw a long head instead of the medium i had ordered.
i called them up and they made it right immediately... sent me the medium head - so i changed the chassis and sent the long headshell back.

it took me a week or two to realize i needed to swap a few tubes - the high gain was not what it should have been - but once i did - WHOA.
and then when i realized that you REALLY need to hard bypass the reverb to get super badass high gain sounds.... again... WHOA.

i've been using the BB preamp sparingly for high gain leads on clean and vint lo, and an AM TS-9 Silver on all 3 modes to add a bit of dirt where i want it.

i just had an old friend show up with $140 he owed me from about 8 years ago... so i'm torn over my next move.... EL34's? an AC booster to stack with the BB? and i'm also strongly considering using yellowjackets... or i could save it up and wait for a deal on a used closed back cabinet.... decisions decisions...

Yellow Jackets will yield more crunch without compromising the clean channel. Think more of an AC30 vibe. Now the trouble is that the Dyne runs in simulclass instead of AB so I'm not sure if YellowJackets would work. (they use a resistor to ignore the bias of the amp) If they will, be sure to use them in 6L6 mode so they don't cook on you.

Great amp. I'd love it if Mesa released an Electra Dyne Special that ran in 30 - 15 - 5 watt modes. Given how loud the 90 watt one is, I bet a 30 watt edition would be able to keep up with a 50watt head.

I'm using the BB +. I had a regular BB but sold it since the plus can get the same tones. I tried an OCD V3 but i didn't like that pedal, added to much bottom end and gave it a mushy character.

I had a BB+ but didn't feel it was distinct enough against the Dynes natural gain character. It also compressed too much for me. I feel the OCD or TS style OD is better suited for the Dyne. Different strokes....but the BB is a MONSTER dirt box....

SED Winged =C= or MESA STR-450 EL-34's. Do not waste your money on the STR-447's.
