Here's the deal, I've put my shure beta 57 making some angle with the speaker, pointing to the center. I've used my telecaster with a seymour duncan sungle coil (upgrading soon to little 59). The amp is my Dual Rectifier...I've messed around with the eqs in sonar to see what I could get... used several plugins, one of them was microphone modular...

Sounds pretty good. I would love it if it was a little thicker sounding,but good tone none-the-less. Great JOB!
 
The amp wasn't loud, and the pickup is not a hambucker, so they both contribute for that thin sound you described, anyway I like the sound, it could be a little more thicker and defined, but its not bad.
