So I was checking out the Krank website (don't ask why) and I noticed that under the "Artists" section it says that Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance of Avenged Sevenfold use Kranks  . Now, I know they use Mesas live, and I know they used to use them for their recordings. I assume they still record with Mesas. So what do they use Kranks for?!? I was hoping that it was mainly for endorsement related purposes. If they rely on Kranks at all though, this will be a huge dissapointment for me because they're one of my favorite bands and I absolutely hate Kranks (Despite the whole Dime thing, arguements aside)

they used bogners on the last 2 albums so i'm not sure where you read that they were using mesa.

now there was an article on ultimate guitar where they were being pussy cry babies because Bogner wouldn't give them free amps and saying they were talking to Mesa.

Things may have changed after that because in an issue of Revolver they were showing an ubershall in every pic like they were trying to do a little endorsing.

Given their egos and starving for attention I wouldn't put it past them to go with Krank or someone offering $ and free amps.

That being said I think CoE was a genius album.

Well I know for a fact that they used Mesas for STST, but If they used Bogners on the last two, I wouldn't know. I also know they use Mesas live, because I saw Syn using a DR and Zacky with a Stiletto Deuce. They are on the Mesa website under the artists section. And yes, City of Evil was an amazing album as were their first two. Everyone is constantly saying CoE is a bad album, just to be "cool". Glad to see an Avenged fan being honest about their tastes in music, and good tastes at that  .

What a mature response. Everyone has different tastes in music. I'm sure I wouldn't like many artists you listen to, but I'm not spamming the boards about it. They're not my favorite band, but I appreciate them and read something that confused me. I brought it here not thinking, "I hope this annoys Scotbot," but because I found interest in the subject. Did I force you to read this thread?

Actualy on COA they used the bogner, well one guy did. The other guy still liked the 2 channel dual rec. I saw them in concert right before COA and that was there set up, one guy had the 2 channel dual, the other had the uber.

Bogner doesnt really like to endorse from what I have heard.

OK here is a latest video of there new song as they played on warped tour of 2007. In the beginning you can clearly see the 2 channel recto. I also saw another recent video where the other guitarist was using a 3 channel recto, i just cant find that video again, but i did see it.

Uncool dude.

To answer 6_6_6_1_syn I notice that a lot of artists are listed under various Amp manufacturers. Slipknot for example is listed on Bogner, VHT, Diezel and Mesa. I guess bands like this have the money or are provided rigs to try out and there names get attached to it.

does anyone know if it is policy by anyone to have an exclusive endorsement? i wouldn't think so because it seems like bands switch around a lot between companies and are listed on multiple brand sites. this is just one example of it. i mean it is possible that even thought they have a wall of krank or bogner or mesa cabinets and you can even see a rack full of rectifiers or ubers or whatever that they still could have something back there you can't see.

lots of bands do the dual endorsement thing. for instance, nightwish uses mesa heads with marshall cabs. george lynch uses randall amps and has a signature genzbenz cab.

hell look at megadeth now being the biggest Line6 endorsement ***** i've ever seen.(not saying thats bad though)

and as for scotbot, well i too dislike a7x, but that was the WRONG way to go about saying that. i'm sure we all love and hate each others favorite musicians, just depends on everyone's taste. unless youre a big fan of ashley simpson, then you do suck in my book.

I think it has a lot to do with the caliber of stardom an artist is at. Neil Zaza was endorsed by Mesa and basically they gave him a Road King and a 4 x12 cabinet and sent to reps to a show with the rig. End of story.

Neil stuffed the Road King in a closet and went back to playing his usual Dr. Z Amps. Then he released another solo album with guest appearences by Peter Frampton, Michael Anthony and Jordan Rudess from Dream Theatre and not a few months later he was endorsing Diezel Amps and has stayed with them for now.

So if you are a small demographic instrumental virtuoso you probably get a free amp and done. Bigger acts with more exposure get more gear and probably some sort of cash exchange. Dave Mustaine left Jackson guitars because they would only provide him with 10 guitars annually and he wanted more than that. So he moved on to something else.

We should all have these problems.........

Despite your incredibly indignant response, it's hard to deny that Avenged Sevenfold are getting the popularity they deserve (at least for COE). Their guitar riffs are something fresh and their music flows very nicely throughout all of the albums with the exception of the self-titled.

Umm, Krank is full of BS. Many artists are claimed to use Kranks but really don't. I do know for a fact that Jeff Loomis uses a 5150 inside of a Krank shell and many artists follow suite. If it were my guess, Avenged probably used the shell or possibly amp once or maybe for one part of a song. Like I said, Krank is to the brim with BS. They pay employees to write great reviews on HC for their products.

Very few endorsements include cash. Most are just discounts, tech support or (rarely) free gear. Unless a guitarist has his signature on something it's not likely he's getting cash.
