Hello all

I have recently been given a 60w Mark III blue stripe (no eq or reverb) that has been sitting for 10 years. I play a Godin Kingpin II Archtop and will be attending Jazz studies in September. I am looking to get a fat smooth jazz tone.
Questions I have are

1. Tube suggestions
2. Speaker suggestions (currently Black Shadow)
3. Settings

The amp sounds good and with some tweaking I think it will be a great amp.

Any suggestions would help

thanks

Clean sounds only, right? Humbuckers, right?
Volume = 6
Treble = 6
Bass = 0 (Pulled)
Mids = 4

Here's a settings chart:

I have a non EQ version of the Mk III as well, and I find it difficult to dial out that snappy/spanky sound the amp has. Especially when you dig into the strings with fender style medium or hard pick. At least with just the amps stock tone controls.
I highly recommend picking up a graphic EQ for the amp. Something like the Boss GE7 will do nicely. Try and get the amp sounding as good as you can by itself, then run the GE7 through the amps effects loop and play around with that a little to really help shape your sound. Making the typical "smiley face" curve will help to start, notching out some of those high mids. (imho)
But with an EQ added to the Mk III you really can't go wrong.
