I FINALLY got a Mark V

I had been saving up for some time and could finally afford it.

I already bought a used 2x12 rectifier cab with V30's a couple months back to go with it but now I'm wondering if a widebody is the way to go? I've been trying to search old threads but not getting all the info I need.

Is it true that the rectifier cab is more suited for metal players while the widebody would be better for lighter stuff? I'm playing mostly clean to edge of break-up to classic rock. I like the occasional metal sounds but that's just for fun at home.

It seems the recto cab is very bass heavy? Is that true? Sometimes I think the bass is just too thumpy and I'm wondering if the front ported widebody or the open back widebody would give me a more even sound?

What say ye gentlemen?

Here's the mandatory NGD pic btw:

Thanks! +150

Anyone experienced care to chime in? Or are you all metal heads?

There's no substitute for trying a cab yourself. You are the best authority on what sounds good to your ears and meshes with your taste...

That said, if the cost is not a problem, you could try a Road King cab. It's a mixture of C90/V30 sound and open/closed back sound. While not as overbearingly massive as the Recto cab, it does a decent job at metal sounds - but also offers more open sound, more sparkle and chime, which the Recto cab lacks. Comparatively speaking of course.

I'd check out speakers rather than cabs. But then its a whole new ballgame when you're A/B-ing speakers. For classic rock, I'd go with Greenback type speakers. I use Scumbacks and love 'em, but I was being picky when I bought them. Look at Eminence.
