So, I have been using a Line 6 PodXTPro powered by a mesa 2:90. I just got a Triaxis.I need two things out of my rig. I need a rhythm channel and a lead channel for a volume boost. Playing around with the Triaxis last night, it doesnt seem that the rhythm channels give me much gain, so apparently I need to use the lead channels for both rhythm and lead. I plan on buying a 4 switch midi pedal, I believe its the RM4, a randall midi pedal. It doesn't have a bank selector, just the 4 switches. So can I set my rhythm channel for one volume and the next channel a little higher on volume for that boost i'm looking for? Any input would be helpful. thank you!

Cody,

There are already some decent rhythm and lead patches pre-programmed into the TriaAxis (look at factory patches 11-20 as they're configured for use with your 2:90). I think 14 and 15 are a bright and a Fender clean, respectively - there's also 1 or 2 crunch / lead patches that offer a good starting point.

If you don't have one, download the manual from the Mesa website. You find out how the different modes work and you can look at the example patches.

Welcome to the World of TriAxis. Have Fun! :D

yeah, there are some great presets. My issue is the volume boost between patches. I will see what I can dig up. Thanks!

Question...
Are you currently using anything to switch your POD right now?

When you get your midi foot controller plug both your POD and your Triaxis into it and you can control and use everything on both units. The Foot Controller will control both the POD and the Triaxis and the Triaxis will control the 2:90. If you run your signal path the way below you can use the POD effects with the Triaxis and Use the POD by its self too. This method you can use the volume level controls in the POD to change/balance our output levels.

Guitar --> POD Input
POD Effects Loop Send --> Triaxis Guitar Input
Triaxis FX Loop Send --> POD Effects Loop Return (MONO)
POD Outputs --> 2:90 Power Amp

You should be able to run the Triaxis as an "external effect" in the POD somewhere, see the POD manual on how to switch the loop on and off. Make sure to turn off the POD preamps on the channels you intend using the Triaxis on. Make sure to have the Triaxis FX LOOP switch on for the channels you want it to be used for. Make sure to connect the Triaxis Switches to the 2:90 for getting the 2:90 functions. I do this same kind of thing using a BOSS GT-6 with very good results, I bet the POD does it a lot better.

Lots of stuff there, Good luck.

Hi AssaultMotive,

You've owned your Triaxis for quite some time now. I hope that you figured out how to get your volume boost for solos. If not, here's the idea...

The Triaxis is a Midi controlled preamp. Any combination combination of settings on the front panel can be saved to a Midi preset. The manual tells you how. It's something like: (1) change the pre-amp settings until it sounds the way you want, (2) press the enter button, (3) change the preset number until its at the value you want, (3) press the enter button again. At that point, all the settings are saved to that preset number.

OK, so now you've got your basic settings saved to a preset. But now you want a bit more boost in volume for a solo...well, that's easy. All you do is bump up the "Master" setting a bit and then save it to a new patch number. Done.

So, let's say you've got your patch for rhythm saved to preset 34 (I randomly picked that number) and you've got your patch for solo saved to preset 35. When you're out gigging, you only need the cheapest of midi foot controllers to switch between the two. Set the Triaxis for 34 and play. When the solo comes, step on your up/down pushbutton footcontroller to step up to setting 35. It's louder. You solo. When done, step on your up/down footcontroller to step back down to 34. It's quieter. You finish the song.

This is kind of like setting the presets on your car radio. You don't need to keep the 6 radio stations that came with the radio when you got the car. You are allowed to put in your own radio stations. In fact, it would be silly not to.

It's the same with the Triaxis. The built-in presets are only there to let you know some of what the Triaxis can do. I've chosen to keep only presets 1-10. All the rest I've overwritten with my own settings. And, like I recommended to you above, many are copies of each other with either a little more volume or maybe a little less gain or maybe a little more dynamic voice. It's all good.

Rockin!
