When you have the roadking you must think Like the artist you are going after. For example. When wanting a rockabilly tone, go to ch 1, recto tubes, on vintage spongy, tweed, 2 6l6's and you emulating a 40-50 watt bassman, use the open back speakers on the road king cab and you are halfway there (fingers have to do the rest). Oh yeah. a gretsch guitar and some slapback echo helps to nail this tone. Beatles? go to ch 2. brit , 2 el 34's, open back again, and a gretsch will do the job. Malmsteen?, Beck?, they both used 50 watt amps most of the time, run 2 6l6's or 2 el34's and crank the out put, keep the master between 11 and 1 oclock, vintage mode, the amp will break up real fast and give great roar and singing leads.Remember to believe in what you are doing and think that you are actually cranking a 50watter, cauz, surprise you actually are. want absolutely crushing tone, a real acdc crunch of crunches, go to ch 4, go to diode rectifier, modern mode, 2 6l6's and 2 el 34's, now we are at about a 100 watts like heads used by angus, use both the open and closed speakers on the 4x12 roadking (why use any other cab? this is custom for the RK) this will give you an even more awe-inspiring blast than a 100 watt marshall. try it, but give it some juice, it will astonish you. Do not think rectifier, until you want rectifier tone, then play like its a rectifier (cauz it is) and it will sound like one. I do not play this amp like a rectifier at all, and its simply the best amp I have ever, ever heard, but If i want to cop the rec tone(4 6l6's chs 3 and 4) I have it, imagine that. No amp can beat this thing when its warmed up, no amp.
