I sold my Orange PPC 4X12 And bought a recto slant to go with my stiletto ace head. I have actually never played through a recto 4x12 so I am very anxious to see what kind of diference it makes. My Orange had Eminence Redcoats and the recto has V30s, also I noticed the Recto is almost 4 inches taller.
Any thoughts?

I just upgraded from a 2x12 recto to a 4x12 recto cab to go with my trident.

If I would have tried the stiletto with the 4x12 when I bought it I never would have bothered with the 2x12.

It´s alot darker and warmer sounding to my ears and the presence knob is actually useful now. It simply sounds HUGE.

Love it

I've used my ACE head through a friends recto 4x12 (top cab) and the sound just killed everything else I have tried it with. I've been keeping my eyes open for a used one at a good price , but it looks like I'll just have to break down and buy a new one.

The deuce head i've played through a recto 4x12 sounds so awesome. Much warmer than an Ace combo FOR SURE. It sounded sooooo good. I just don't need a 4x12... and i'm on to a short head DC-3 with two Recto 1x12s now and they sound like a 2x12 with the added convenience of being able to split them up for a better sound spread or just take one for an easy to transport boogie rig.

This is going to sound rediculous but my gear rarely leaves my bedroom. I have absolutely no need for a 4x12, but f@#$ it I wanted one for the longest time and I finally came across a smokin deal. So I'm basically using a stage rig for bedroom practice. Luckily for me I live in a house in a rural area and my closest neighbor is deaf
The orange was the first 4x12 I ever owned and I was sad to see it go. I hope the recto lives up to it's name. I am anxious to hear how the V30s sound in a 4x12 config. I have only used them in combo amps.

Who says Rock and Roll excess has to be about a bunch of crap you ingest?
That's been my theory anyway.
Have a blast!

I broke down and went to a local GC that sells Mesa products. I've decided to buy a new 4x12 Recto slant cab for my Stiletto. Now it's just a matter of time till I get the 949 plus tax to take it home. ETA; next week or the week after......and a couple pedals as well....can't frigging wait!!! :D :D

It's a RECTOLUTION! Soon there will be no buidings left standing and the substance of the earth will be Recto Tone

Well believe it or not my cab showed up a day earlier than fed ex had told me it would. That has never happened to me before, usually it's ups and they don't get to my house til 6-7 o'clock and it's on tuesday so I'm waiting to get my new **** so I can rush off to the jam an hour late. Major kudos to the man that sold it to me, he did a top notch job packing.

But down to buisiness. It absolutely KILLS. It kills anything I've ever played. I can't believe the diference in sound between this and my orange 4x12. I have never heard my Stiletto thump like this before, EVEN WITHOUT THE 10 BAND ON! I am extremely pleased with this cab, it sounds phenomenal and it looks.........the balls. Now I just need a band

BTW does any one know why it says it's a 280 watt cab? 4 V30s=240 watts no?

Halfnote,

Where did you get the Ace HEAD? I didn't think that was possible. I might have gone for that, rather than the Deuce, had I known about it.

Regards,

Brad

Congrats, Halfnote....that's what I'm after - a 4 x 12 under my Ace combo. I've had 2 deals for used cabs fall apart so far, so I'm just going to buy a new one...SOON!!!
Can't wait for the SOUND!!!

Sorry to hijack the thread, but when you guys are saying 'recto 4x12' are you referring to the Standard (oversize) or the smaller Tradional quad?

Cheers

Speaking for myself...The BIG one! I've actually heard an Ace combo thru this cab and it's simply death with grillcloth on it
We'll see what happens when I get ready to actually get one...the wife is really giving me the EYE over this...

I'm talking the standard oversize recto 4x12.

Your timing on admiring the Recto 4x12 is right in line with what I've been up to this month.

Due to obvious massiveness in weight & volume, I don't run my Trem-O-Verb 2x12 combo through one of my 4x12s all that often (only when the band is in a bigger venue, which isn't often enough!). Anyways.....I pulled my old Marshall 4x12 out of storage to A/B it against the super clean Mesa D.R. cab I bought over a year ago (been wanting to compare them for a while now).

OhMyGOSH!! Let's just say this> My Marshall 4x12 is now on craigslist for $350 if anyone's interested. I really can't believe how much better the Mesa cabinet sounds with the T-Verb. I expected more bass response and more crystal clarity in the chords, but what I didn't expect was how much more edgy & tight punch the Mesa has. (I figured that was the 1 thing the Marshall had that over the Mesa)

To be fair....if I'd done this same comparison with a Marshall head, it may have ended differently. But with my T-Verb (which I already love the sound of)....I've just fallen back in big-time LOVE with 4x12 cabs!

Ahhhh!!...for some unknown reason that picture just made me crack the biggest smile  ...
How much fun must there be in those cabinets!!! Yup...gotta get me one.

They don't make them as often as the deuces so your less likely to stumble across one of them, but you can have them make you one straight from the factory if you are in good with a certified mesa dealer. of course i waited 7 months for mine but i love the thing to death. 8)

rock on halfnote
rec cabs kick $@#$@#

THE BIGGER THE CAB THE BIGGER THE SOUND!!!! END OF STORY!!!

The Ace cuts through like a knife, and with a rectifier cab like that its got some big balls dangling from its blade!

Wow..surfer, that's pretty profound!!!! I like the way you think....

I'm gonna have to wait a bit on my cabinet acquisition however, since I just stumbled across a super clean DC-2 yesterday and just couldn't walk away from it!! :D

Oh well...it's all in the name of jammin'
