Decided to give EMG's another go. I'm in no way a Hetfield "fan-boy" LOL.

I have had EMG's in this guitar before, the classic 81/85 combo as well as 81/60 & 85/60.

While I liked the 60 in the neck, I always felt that the 81 was lacking that percussive "punch" you get from passives.

After a quick run with my MKV @ home volumes I am definatly impressed with these p'ups. Very quiet (as Actives are) and clear, but still a little fuzzy on top. The bridge p'up has a lot of top end (like the 81) but seems fuller in the lows.

Can't wait to try these at practice through my Roadster.

My Charvel 650 neck thru had the 81 at the bridge when I got it and I was not feelin' it. I think the 81 is brilliant in heavy bodied guitars such as Les Pauls, but misses the mark for me in Super Strats and the like. I changed to the 85 at the bridge and it is much fuller and warmer, and includes the much desired percussive punch that the 81 lacks, even on single note runs in the upper register. I'm in love with the 85 these days, after avoiding actives for my entire life! I'll always have at least 1-2 guitars with them going forward.

Congrats!
If they sound as good as they look in that guitar, I'm sure you're very happy. :)

Just curious ... do you have any more pics of the guitar?
Love the color and the checkering in the paint.

Congrats man!

I've got the 57/66 in a couple of my guitars and love them. Definitely my favorite EMG's.

Right on! I have the 57/66 in my Signature T & really like them. I just ordered a 57 in Black Chrome to try in the White Custom as well!
