I'm glad to be here everyone! I've just sucsessfully completed a V2 mod on my no stripe thanks to some postings on this site. It's true, it's a "must do" mod. My Mark III is a bare bones 60 watt version with no EQ. According to the interior it was built in 10 of 1986 by Mark and Lisa.

By for now.

Hi Al,

Welcome !
Nice to see you've done the mod. But do you probaly mean the R2 mod ??? I've never heard of V2 mod :).............

You guys are right. It's the R2 mod where clean and crunch can be ballanced. I must have been thinking of the wwII rocket. Too much public TV. While on the subject of ballance, is it normal for the lead channel output to be lower than the R1 / R2 channel? Not that it's a biggie. I use a volume pedal in the effects loop anyway and it's still loud enough to strip paint off a battleship.

The lead master is all the way up. To get the drive I like the first volume (all the way to the left) has to be above 7 and that cranks up the clean channel in the cascade effect. I've read this would happen in the manual, and would be more noticable at lower volumes. Or I might have a component failure related to the lead channel. I replaced all of the tubes with Mesa brand tubes. The clean is crystal the dirt a little less so and the lead a little more, but no more than I would expect from a 28 year old amp.

Has anyone heard of lead components needing replacement?

Thanks,

Al
