Hi all, just saying hello.

Received my Mini Rec today and loving it so far.. this thing it tiny.. much smaller than I thought. I still need to dial it in properly but so far liking it. Am I correct in thinking it has the same pre-amp circuit as the new Dual Rec?

Seems loud enough at the 25w setting so hoping to use it for practices and as a backup to my main rig for gigs (if it's good at volume it might teen replace my main rig).

Yeah, they're killer. Try it through a recto 2x12. It'll be loud enough for a band. I found the cab makes a huge difference for tone. I wrote a mini-review of various cabinets somewhere in this forum.

Definitely try the settings in the manual. I use something very close to sample settings #5. Then I can flip to Modern mode and knock holes in the wall.

Ya, add me to the club as well. New Mini Rec with 2x12 horizontal. I cant believe how amazing it sounds! Im sure well enjoy our NADS! LOL

Might have to pick up a Mesa 2x12 cab.. although there mighty expensive here in the UK

At the moment just a V30 loaded Marshall 1936 cab. Just bedroom levels so far, it's another week until the band get's back together after a holiday break so I can really crank it up then.

That's probably not a bad choice, but the Mesa cabs are voiced quite a bit differently. The V30s should give you plenty of mid-grind. The issue is whether you are getting enough low frequencies.

It seems OK at home levels, but can't say for sure until I get it into the rehearsal situation.

Generally in the UK the MDF construction of the 1936 means that a lot of people put a downer on them, doesn't seem to be the same in the USA.

I've got it set up at the moment with CH1 - Pushed for my Rhythm tones and CH2 - Vintage for lead (we play rock rather than metal), and I can kick in a TS9 for extra gain when needed..

I'm using my MR more and more. It is really a great amp. I am starting to get a good feel for the mid-gain sounds and the clean channel, and it is very useable. I am actually thinking of bringing it to my next practice instead of my 'Dyne. Yikes!

Just got back form my first band practice with it.

Wowza.. it really is a beast of an amp. I've got it set up using the Pushed mode of Channel 1 as my main rhythm sound, with the modern mode on Channel 2 just a bit louder for those times I need to boost a little without actually going to solo levels, or on song where we just use 1 guitar (I use a Microamp in the loop for solos). It's very quiet, no noise to mention when using the loop or with the gain up high which I was impressed with.

Volume wise I used it tonight on the 10w mode, at 1'oclock on the Masters and it was more than loud enough to cope with our very loud drummer, I'll try it on 25w next time as this is supposed to sound better.

My one complaint is that there is a slight mute in sound when changing channels. I didn't notice it at first when playing with 2 guitarists, but when we started on the single guitar songs it was noticeable (to me anyway).

I'm still dialling in my sounds, but so far very happy with it.. also was a big plus to just carry all my stuff to the car in 1 trip rather than having to make 2.

I've had mesa's before (a Rectifier Solo, Mark iv, and Stiletto) and liked them all but moved back to Marshall's a while ago.. I can see myself reversing that move after tonights practice.

I find that 10w has a smoother voicing but is not as tight as 25w. But I dont play at practice or gig levels. To get a similar tone on 25w Modern you will need less mids and presence, maybe a bit more bass.

I am interested in a MINI but I am worried it won't have as big a tone or as 3-D a tone as a big brother Rectifier. :)
Also, maybe still be stiff on solos. :(

Do these mini amps sound as big and wide as a 50 watt or 100 watt amp? I was close to buying an Orange Dual Terror, just like the Mini Rectifier but the wattage and smaller power section has me thinking I would miss the fat of a 50 watt or 100 watt amp.
