whether evans was in there to try out some gear or to buy it, he still shouldnt have been treated that way. even if he wasnt going to buy something that day, he may have come back to the store later to buy what he was trying out. now i believe he will never go back to the store again , i know i wouldn't if i had been treated that way. if you work in a music store, you have to be prepared to hear loud music all day. i don't have any sympathy for the salesmen, they know what they were getting into and if they don't like loud music they are free to find another job. personally i know i would hate it so i will probably never work in a music store.

evans, if you're looking for a mid-priced tube amp, i would recommend something like the fender deville. i don't know what kind of music you play but the deville will cover just about anything besides insane scooped metal tones. you could use something like the Boss Metal Zone with it for that. you could also consider a modeling amp, some of them can get pretty close to tube sound. especially the tech 21 and higher end line 6 stuff

One thing I find that helps is walk into the store ask for the manager and punch him in the face!

Ok...don't do that, but only if you really have to. Seriously walking in and telling the guy your in here looking to buy a amp, you'll be playing them for a unspecified amount of time and you'll be using the guitars on the wall. If there is something I really like, then I will buy it. Is there a problem?
It might not always work but you will get the managers point of view and if he is a dick right off then shake his hand, take your bow and leave.

I had this one experience when my brother and I were trying out guitars/basses and I got to see a customer and manager yelling it out, it was a huge scene. So I looked over at my brother and mouthed Opeth. We both jacked up our amps we were playing through and started playing a song Deliverance, it was LOUD. They both got mad at us because they couldn't hear themselves yelling at each other... Ridiculous

It Truly isn't fair to anyone wanting to try gear out. I think that the sales people should walk into soundproof booths to talk on their phones and bullshit, customers shouldn't have to.

:D

To follow up once more, I did get an amp, and everyone's going to laugh at me.

I found a really cheap Crate Blue Voodoo BV-50h and I bought it. I've read about the "terrible" highs and all that, but I also found a place that lists some mods that can take care of things like that. To go with it, I bought a B-52 4x12.

And MetalMatt, I'm pretty sure that no guitar/amp test is complete without Opeth. The first two songs I do when I test a guitar/amp are Symbolic by Death and The Leper Affinity by Opeth.

Deliverance, Masters Apprentices, The Drapery Falls and Serenity Painted Death are 4 songs I ALWAYS play when testing out gear.. that's pretty hilarious you guys do the same!

Wow...that IS weird. I must say that Death is a must too :D I'm glad you you found something that your happy with. Who does the mod?

Check the speakers, you might have the sought after Tone Tubbys (ceramic) speakers!
