A buddy of mine turned me on to Avatar Speakers. He has the Vintage G412 with Hellatone 60's (broken-in V30) and the cab sounded great with his 3-Channel Dual.

I already own a 4X12, and it's a beast to lug around so I deceided to try the Vintage G212. It's all 15mm Baltic Birch, and appears well contructed. At about 55 pounds each (from shipping label) these are a breeze to move around compared to the Recto 4X12.

I wanted to mix up the speakers for versitility so I'm starting with a Closed Back Cab loaded with two Hellatone 60's on the bottom,

With a Partial Open Back Cab loaded with Mesa Black Shadow C-90's on top.

Everythings works but I won't get a chance to really open her up until pratice tomorrow. I love the mix of the C-90 and Hellatone 60's with cleans at home levels already. It's hard to tell how the Hellatone 60's will compare to the V30's in my Recto cab. I'm thinking the cabs will really play a role, as well as number of speakers.

I'm not just playing Metal anymore, and the Roadster has really opened up my pallet. I'm hoping to reap the same benefits here.

FWIW-

These are keepers !

The Hellatone 60's sound great in the closed-back 2X12. Not farty or overly loose at all, quite punchy for a 2X12.

The Black Shadow's on top are a great compliment! Single notes sing and sting without the angry bees (harsh highs)!!

That's a really sharp rig! I've been wanting to check out those Hellatone's for a good while.
Glad you like it!

Very nice! I like the 2 2x12 paring myself with my Recto. It tightens things up, and makes it MUCH easier to transport. Congrats! :D

Thanks Guys!

Yea, much easier to transport for sure. A lot easier on the ol' back.

The rig does feel tighter, we'll see how things go as my ears get used to them. Right now I'm really diggin' them. The Recto cab is bigger in the bottom, but the Hellatone 60/C-90 combo is clearer, with plenty of bass response to shake things in the room.

The only issue I might have with 2 2x12s instead of a 4x12 is that the tone won't be as deep because it's a smaller cabinet. Have you found this to be true, or does it not seem like a very big deal?

Other than that, congrats on the nice setup!

With the Roadster it's really not that big a deal. The Recto 4X12 is alot bigger in the bottom, but IMO that bottom can overpower overtones in chords and step all over the bass player, so I tend to dial the bass back a little anyway. I find the two 2X12 setup to be cleaner in the bottom, but that might be more of the semi-open back cab blending in also. It still shakes the room if I crank it, and the Roadster has plenty of bass on hand anyway

I imagine if I had two closed back cabs it would be pretty close to the Recto's bottom, and prob a bit more bottom than a traditional sized cab. The cab's are large for a 2X12 ( 30L X 25H X 12D ) and I do like having the head at eye-level :D
