New 50/50 owner

I just got my first Mesa! Has the old-style fifty/fifty writing on it. I am looking at replacing the tubes with some matched groove tubes: GT-6L6C.

Is this a good or bad idea?

Do most of you recommend only going with Mesa tubes?

When it comes to power tubes I recommend anything BUT Mesa tubes. With both my Mark IV and my 50/50 I had nothing but one bad set of Mesa power tubes after another, so now I use JJ's in both and haven't had a problem since.

As long as I am using 6l6 tubes I cannot hurt this thing, right? I just don't want to plug in these groove tubes and hurt anything.

I am already seriously loving this thing....

You have to buy a matched quartet, and a grade that correspond to mesa tubes. Otherwise you can try a bias mod or have your tech do it.
