Need to build a snake for a pedal board

Someone on here has built one. I have a few questions. What type of cable has anyone used for this? How did you make the ends? Any problems?

Hey, I've built one for my 4CM setup.
I used a Mogami W2931 4 Channel TRS bulk cable + Neutrik TS straight connectors. (Yes, I've wired them as mono).
I left one of the fanned ends longer, so I can connect it to the front of the amp, while the other ends are able to reach the loop jacks in the back panel.

No problems at all. It's pretty easy to solder as the wires are numbered, reducing the possibility of mistakes.
I recommend this Mogami cable. High quality stuff, no doubt.

I just made one using this http://pedalpython.com/ with my existing cables. It was easy and works great. The only mistake I made was ordering 1 size too short. I figured since my cables were 20' I would get the 15' to have some room at the ends to route the cables to different points. But it seems that the sizing takes that into account already So if you go this way, order for what your cable lengths are.

For a simple snake that binds a few cables together, Monster makes a cable wrap called cable-it that actually works really well.

For real snakes I have Best-tronics make them. They are a bit pricy, but very nice.

I just got 3 individual cables plus my footswitch cable and wrapped them with this: http://www.amazon.com/Radio-Shack-Spiral-Cable-Wrap/dp/B001195SOC

Using a real snake might cut a little weight but this would avoid any ground loop issues, be easy to repair and it's a little cheaper. You can also take it apart in a pinch and have 3 spare cables.

I also went the Pedal Python route. I used to just use velcro cable ties every 4 or 5 inches, but this takes it a step further. Conveniently enough, the first step for installing the Python is velcro ties every 4 inches, haha. Great product!

I have a few spares that I'd like to get rid of. I don't mind changing the ends for you either. I don't mind giving you a good price either. They are just hanging in my music room and need a good home!

All of my cable snakes are 8 channel. Some of them have what Fractal Audio calls "Humbuster" ends on them.
Some have midi connectors along with the 1/4" connectors.
I like the 8 channel snakes because they have built in spare cables!

Buy a pedal snake. It's easily the best gear purchase I've ever made and because the CS series has separate "pigtails" that can be swapped out you are covered if your rig changes. I run 2 separate 9 volt power, FX Send/Return, and Amp input through one large cable. I do run a long foot switch cable separate but only because of the 8 pin DIN setup on the Roadster. I've ran the pedal snake for years without issue. No noise and all hooked up in just a couple of minutes. The pigtails can stay on your board so you just reconnect them with their color coded DIN connector and your ready to rock. Worth every penny!
