Hello everyone!
Would anyone be so kind to send me a pic or two of the inside chasis
of a .50 cal amp circa late '80s.
I have aquired one that someone started to work on and detached the
rear jack wiring. So... a nice picture showing the colored wiring would
be a big help in putting this mini monster back together!
Thanks to all!

Do you mean the output taps?

Mesa has historically used the yellow for the 8 ohm tap and green for the two 4 ohm taps connected together with buss wire at the jacks as there is only one yellow and one green wire off the OT. There should also be one black wire to ground. Also, there may be another wire off the 8 ohm jack to the presence pot as Mesa uses this for their negative feedback loop.
I will try and find a schematic.

I will see if I can dig up a pic.

Thanks for your quick reply!
The unit I have has some wires disconnected from the card.
It looks like the main speaker jack wiring is still intact but the footswitch,
send and return leads, are hanging loose and a few others I like to confirm that they are in their proper connection points befor I try to power it up!
Thanks for your help in advance!

I put a link to the schematic in my last message.

I hope it helps.

Russ B. has some .50 Cal chassis pics here - http://acplink.com/

Search under Mesa and he has some hi resolution shots.

Many thanks to you! Boogiebabies,
I owe you big time!
I certainly would done more damage than good powering up without your help! Excellent site too! Thanks to Russ B.
If there is anything I can help you with please ask as I have a few shots
of the gear (mostly Vintage) That I have worked on.
I have a few tricks that may be helpful on some stuff too.
Are you a full time tech?
Sincerely
manny2 :D

I have a 50 cal combo cabinet with no chassis in it.
I would like to build something to fill it.
Does anyone have the dimensions for the chassis?
I think it is 17" wide by 2.5" tall. I need the upper and lower depth measurements and the mounting hole placements.

Thanks

Luckily My .50 Cal project is still apart!
Here are the dimensions!
Keep in mind that the front panel is a tilt face ala Fen***
The top measures 17" wide
height is 2 3/8" all around ..............................______
the top side, rear to top of the face is 7 3/8" /...........|

The bottom measures 17" wide
the bottom side to the bottom face is 8 3/8" /______|

I hop this helps!

galtjunk:

The dimension of a Caliber .50 is basically the size of small chassis Mark Series so I think Mark I, II, III, IV, Studio .22, Caliber .50 chassis should all fit in this empty combo you have, (I would think).

A friend of mine had a Mark III combo. I built him a head enclosure. When he sold the Mark III, he gave me back the head. I used my Studio .22. I ended selling it to one of member on this board

Manny2:

Thank you for the measurements. Now I'll have to figure out what I want to build.
