I have a 2000 triple rectifier that is having a problem with the effects loop. I replaced all my power tubes and preamp tubes. I purchased them thru mesa boogie. So here is my issue, hope you can help. If I use the effects loop there is almost no output at all. If I bypass the loop it sounds great and loud. Playing with send and mix knows does nothing for volume. I can see on my effects unit, there is a signal. Here is where it gets strange, if I plug guitar into effects unit, then effects output to amp, send, it outputs . It's like the loop is in reverse, altho when I use the same setup, into the, return, there is no output. I'm at a loss and don't have money to send to a repair tech. I have inspected the board and I can't see any visible issues. I do have a multimeter but I don't know what to check. Any help, ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !!

Does turning the Output knob have any effect at all when the loop is active?

Yes, it gets a bit louder when I turn up the output knob. faint sounding, but defiantly an increase. I also tried the slave out and it's working as it should. If that helps at all, or is relevant.

Some more info required....

Is this a new amp for you?
Did you have this problem before?

-Try a standard patch cable from Send to Return and see if you get sound in all modes of operation. If yes, then loop works (even if reversed)

-According to your analysis, the Send and Return may be reversed (it seems to be). Have you tried a simple pedal in the loop hooked up reverse? What I can't tell you is if you hook up in reverse you may 'damage' something..... . I am not sure, so your risk. That's why I said use a simple pedal and not effects unit. Better a cheap pedal to not work than effects unit. Ask questions first before attempting!

If amp is new to you, the loop may have been changed from parallel to serial. Some users have done this mod. It's a simple mod. Maybe it wasn't done properly. There are posts that show the mod if you search "loop mod" or use some other key words in the Search function.

If the mod was done, maybe it was changed back to parallel but not done properly. Again, search posts on this site.

Check solder joints of Send/Return jacks (wires, etc)

Maybe jacks were placed in the wrong holes on the chassis? (the real Send jack in the Return hole, the real Return jack in the Send hole). Don't know if this is possible but you never know what can happen.

You didn't mention the effect unit, but it may have an input pad or signal selection to look into, and/or have you messed with your channel masters with loop on, as they are send effect levels!

I'm using a tc electronic g-major. I also have an old Marshall valve state vs100. I hooked the g-major into its effects loop, and it's working, no problems. I understand that the master on each channel affects the send signal. I usually keep each channel master at around 11:00. I have turned them up to ,channel master at 1:00, and turned the output to 3:00. The amp only gets above a whisper. With the loop bypassed its loud as can be. I have had this amp for a while, the loop used to work no problem. Thanks so much for ideas, I really appreciate it ! I have not tried a patch cable between send and receive with the loop on. I did not even know you could do that. I will try it tomorrow and post the results. Again thanks !!!

It is possible someone modded the loop to serial loop and you would need the patch cable.
