My short head arrived today
Gotta wait 'til tomorrow to load up the matched quad of =C= EL34s
and play it.

Ain't she purty ?

.

She is beautiful birdy. Now you need the matching cab to go along with her

WOW Birdy…that is very nice… I like the fact that it says BOOGIE as opposed to Mesa engineering… Gives it an old school look to it….Is that a new ordering option?????

Cheers
Bill

Thanks guys.
For now, this cab is gonna do....I LOVE the tone I get from it with the E-D

The blonde tolex, white knobs and "Boogie" badge were not extra cost items over
a medium (23") head when I ordered it(1 1/2 months ago).

Have you put in the =C= EL34s and how did that compare with the 6L6s?

Johnny

=C= power tubes are in and a Tung Sol 12ax7a RI in V1 slot.
Don't forget to change the bias select switch
I didn't forget. Watch for the pretty red light.

90w mode, blue channel, master volume at 11:00, volume at 2:30.
Crunch city.

With EL34s, the amp definitely feels different...in a good way. I had to
EQ a little "darker" to get the same tone approximation as with the 6L6 tubes.
To make a comparison...unattenuated... it's a bit brighter with the 34s.
I *L O V E* the tone with my p90 Les Paul's neck pickup with the 34s !
I realized I use my bridge pickup a lot more with my 6L6 combo.

I run a Tung Sol 12ax7a RI in the V1 slot of my combo also.
I also run my combo thru the cab quite a bit.
I haven't tried the head thru the V30s in my combo yet...one day I suppose.

Using my THD 4 OHM Hotplate ( I rewired my Marshall cab to 4 OHMs),
running the master at about 4 o'clock....the EL34s sound FREAKIN' AMAZING
in this amp !!!! I get that sweet singing grind and the notes really sound organic.
Great string separation and a real low end woodiness.
No regrets about selling my Mark V and getting another 'dyne. None.

2 'Dynes!? all you need now is an ABY switch. YOu can use the combo for cleans and the head for gain tones! I bet that Marshall 1960ax absolutely hauls with that head!
